A LITTLE CLARITY

A number, with context.

Is this predicting my lifespan?

No. You choose an age to count toward. The result is calendar mathematics relative to that choice, not a personal or medical prediction. You can change it whenever you like.

What is a weekend?

We count Saturdays from today, including today if it is Saturday, up to but not including the target date. We do not count elapsed 48-hour blocks.

How do summer counts work?

Choose June 1 for northern summers or December 1 for southern summers. We count those start dates in the same interval. A summer already underway is not counted again. These are chosen calendar conventions, not local weather forecasts.

What about leap birthdays?

A February 29 birthday uses February 28 as its anniversary in a year without February 29. If the chosen target date is today or in the past, counts are zero.

When can I get the app?

The iOS and Android apps are in testing and are not yet on the stores. Store links will appear here when available. You can try the private calculator on the homepage now.

How do dinners, calls and trips work?

In the mobile testing build, tap Count something and choose a template. Enter a frequency per day, week, month or year and a target date. Estimates assume a steady rhythm, prorate partial periods and round down. Weeks use seven days; month/year rates use an average 365.2425-day year. You can enter an alternative rhythm and compare both results.

Does the app read my screen time?

No. Enter your own daily average in minutes. A lower daily average shows the hours you could reclaim over the same chosen horizon. The app does not request access to your device-usage history.

How are books estimated?

Daily reading minutes accumulate into hours. Approximate book counts divide that time by your chosen reading minutes per book. The starting assumption is 600 minutes, or ten hours; edit it to suit your reading.

What does calendar progress mean?

Year, month and week bars count completed local calendar days. Today is included in the days still ahead. Weeks start Monday, and leap years and different month lengths are handled automatically.

Will my old counters and backups still work?

The updated app retains existing counters and accepts older backups. New exports use backup version 3 so older app versions cannot silently misread the new settings. Keep exported files private; they are not encrypted by the app.

Are the three life counts all I can use?

No. Days, weekends and summers are your starting counts. On Home, tap “Create your first personal count,” or the always-available “Create a personal count” button. Choose a type, add a label and your details, then save. Your personal counts appear before the detailed life cards. Keep creating counts for your people, habits and moments.

You can also try a personal count on this website. The browser demo is not saved or synced; create it in the app to keep it.

Where did the Christmas count go?

Celebrations are optional personal counts, never inferred from religion or location. The old automatic Christmas card has been removed, not converted into another tradition. Add it again through “Celebrations & traditions” if it matters to you. Existing personal counters are preserved. Islamic calendar estimates can differ from local observance; use your community’s start dates if you prefer. Diwali and custom occasions require entered dates, and “planned celebrations” counts only the dates you entered, not a lifetime total.

Can I share several counts together?

In the app, tap “Share my perspective” on Home. Choose 2–6 counts, tap a star to feature one, then choose Story (9:16) or Post (4:5). Names stay hidden unless you turn on “Show my personal labels.” This option appears when you select a personal count, with an example of the label before and after. Preview the exact image, then tap “Share or save…” to choose an available destination. WhatsApp, Messages and saving options depend on your device and installed apps. No image is uploaded to our servers. Individual count sharing is still available.

What is free, and what is Count+?

Free includes three automatic life counts and five active personal counts, all calculation categories, single and combined Forest share cards, both Story and Post formats, personal labels, weekly reminders and backup export/restore. Count+ adds unlimited personal counts and Ocean and Terracotta color themes for the app and combined cards. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Checkout is not live yet; a configured app will show your store’s localized price.

The app offers Count+ when you try to create a sixth active count or choose a premium color. It does not interrupt onboarding or reveal a personal result behind a paywall. You can decline and continue free. Archive a count to free a space; unarchiving needs a free space or Count+.

What happens to my existing counts?

They remain available to read, edit, archive, export and share, even if you already have more than five or a purchase is refunded. Restoring a backup preserves its counts, including backups over the free allowance. It does not restore a paid entitlement. Creating additional active counts is limited while you have five or more without Count+.

How do I restore Count+?

Open Settings → Count+ → Restore purchases. Use the same Apple or Google store account that made the purchase. Restore is separate from restoring a personal-data backup. Purchases do not transfer between Apple and Google, and Count+ does not add cloud sync. If payment is pending, wait for store confirmation. If a completed purchase has not unlocked access, restore or contact support; do not buy it again.
